Sigur Rós x Ulster Orchestra – A Unique Collaboration
This isn’t your typical gig.
Sigur Rós have spent the past few years reimagining their entire catalogue with full orchestral arrangements, working with world-class orchestras across the globe — and now, Belfast’s own Ulster Orchestra joins that list.
Critics have been blown away by the results:
“Unparalleled majesty… feels like the band’s material has been rebuilt from the ground up.” – Rolling Stone UK ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“An out-of-body experience… a celestial performance.” – The London Standard ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Crashing waves of refined harmony.” – The Guardian ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is more than a concert — it’s a full sonic experience, where strings, brass and cinematic soundscapes elevate Sigur Rós’ already iconic music to another level.
A World Tour Reaching Its Final Chapter
These September shows form part of the final leg of Sigur Rós’ global orchestral tour, which has already taken in some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including:

- Konzerthaus, Vienna
- Auditorio Nacional, Mexico City
Throughout the tour, the band has collaborated with leading orchestras such as the London Contemporary Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and more — with Belfast now firmly on that list.
Band member Kjartan Sveinsson shared:
“It is always very special to sit in the middle of an orchestra surrounded by all these fantastic players… thanks to everyone that has come to our shows.”
A New Era for Sigur Rós
This orchestral direction isn’t by accident — it reflects a new creative chapter for the band.
Since reuniting with Sveinsson in 2022, Sigur Rós have leaned heavily into orchestral arrangements, including:
