Podcasts are transforming the way people consume audio content, similarly to how people consume on-demand television. Unlike an audiobook, podcasts are usually conversations between two or more people that will feel natural, yet unpredictable, allowing the listener to escape and delve in specific topics, whether it be for entertainment or information.
There has been a boom in podcast listening with over 7.1million adults tuning in weekly, doubling in listeners in the past five years [Ofcom, 2019]. Reasoning behind the rise in listenership, is thought to be because of the convenience and variety of content that is available on the go, fitting in with busy lifestyles.
