Belfast-based specialist advisory accountancy firm Ross Boyd Limited has announced a £500,000 investment and the creation of up to 50 new jobs by 2022.

The plans include a new satellite office in Scotland and a new premium, bespoke service designed to help local businesses set-up and prosper.

The Belfast-based firm, which currently employs ten people in the city centre and in London, will open a new branch of the growing business in Glasgow this summer, ahead of a fourth branch in Dublin by 2020.

The news was announced during one of a series of events RBL will host this year to take the lead in updating clients on important business issues, such as Brexit.

The event took place at the Dark Horse in Belfast when local business figures benefitted from the economic insight of Ken Brundle, chairman of Bombardier Aerospace, Belfast and Danske Bank Economist Conor Lambe.

Ross Boyd, Managing Director and founder at RBL also unveiled details of Ross Boyd Wealth, a new, deluxe financial planning service.

“Through Ross Boyd Wealth Limited and the support of our cloud partners we now offer a unique end-to-end service for entrepreneurs and small business owners. This, in addition to our long standing advisory services, has created a fresh new alternative to traditional accountants.

“This can be done for businesses anywhere, not just from our bases in Belfast, London or Glasgow, or within the UK and Ireland. With our fully cloud-based operating model we are able to service clients’ needs remotely, combined with our highly experienced strategic business advice.”

Commenting on the outlook for the economy, Danske Bank Economist Conor Lambe said that although the UK economy had performed better than expected following the EU referendum, there are some headwinds on the horizon.

“Higher inflation is likely to contribute to slower growth in consumer spending and, with Brexit-related uncertainty expected to act as a drag on business investment, we are projecting a slowdown in economic growth in the UK and in Northern Ireland.

“Article 50 has now been triggered but the negotiations will involve many complex issues that will take time to be resolved fully. Therefore, local businesses will continue to face high levels of uncertainty, but they should now be thinking through what different Brexit scenarios would mean for them.”
