The Stena Line Belfast Giants are pleased to announce the arrival of Rickard Palmberg for our 20th anniversary season. With injuries impacting the lineup in recent weeks – the Giants have moved to add the 30 year old ahead of a busy schedule with nine games in 18 days.
Palmberg will wear #91 for the Giants and is available to play from Wednesday’s Challenge Cup Quarter Final 2nd Leg in Cardiff. The forward arrives from Berani Zlín of the Czech Extraliga after joining in the off-season.
The 5’11” centreman has played his entire career at home in Sweden until this season. Palmberg spent eight seasons in Division 1 before joining Södertälje SK of the HockeyAllsvenskan in 2014/15. He then spent the next three seasons at HC Vita Hästen with his HockeyAllsvenskan totals 56 goals and 29 assists, good for 85 points in 126 games played.
Last season Palmberg joined Timrå IK of the Swedish Elite League and posted nine goals and 22 assists, good for 31 points in 46 games played.
Adam Keefe on the signing of Rickard Palmberg:
“We have stayed on the lookout for an addition to the lineup and once Rickard became available – we wanted to bring him to Belfast quickly. He will add creativity to our offence and I know Giants fans will enjoy seeing him in action during an important period of games.”
