We had the distinct pleasure of attending the Grand Opera House’s latest production Oliver! this opening week.
Musical stars took to the stage performing well loved classics such as I’d Do Anything, Food Glorious Food, Where is Love?, and Consider Yourself.
The idea that the ages of these performers range from 10 to 18 was sincerely impressive. A few stand outs from the performance include Jackson Allen in the role of Fagin, Robbie McMinn as Bill Sykes (who was truly villainous), Conor Kelly as The Artful Dodger, and Mason McLoughlin as Oliver. The stand out performance was undoubtedly Caroline McMichael as Nancy – her delivery of As Long As He Needs Me stole the show.
As you watch, it’s hard to believe that in just two weeks director Tony Finnegan and his cast of 160 individuals brought Lionel Bart’s Oliver Twist to life.
Though it may be billed as an amateur production, do not pass on this heartwarming production. The energy, craftsmanship, and enthusiasm behind this show will not leave you wanting more.
Congratulations to everyone involved for a stunning delivery of Oliver!
