Mencap 'gallops' to £55,329 at Annual Race Day Racegoers recently raised £55,329 for learning disability charity Mencap NI at the organisation's Annual Race Day at Down Royal Racecourse. Hosted by Mencap supporter Pamela Ballantine, more than 380 attendees put on their best race day attire to help raise vital funds to support and develop Mencap services across Northern Ireland through ticket sales, collections and an auction. Margaret Kelly, Director, Mencap NI said: "What a great event Mencap's Race Day has become, we want to thank everyone for their amazing generosity in supporting our work. All donations raised on the night will be used to support the development of our new family support service to help parents, especially when their child is first diagnosed with a learning disability. "Special thanks must go to Mencap's Special Events Committee for their hard work in organising Race Day. The event is the highlight of our calendar each year and we are always amazed by the generosity of our supporters. We appreciate everyone for giving their time and money to help us support families and children with a learning disability."
