Man of Steel: Cinema Review

New Man of Steel Poster

I grew up with Superman of the 1980’s. Christopher Reeve was pure cheese. He was the accident prone Clarke Kent by day and superhero Superman at night. He got changed in a telephone box and saved the blind man walking across the street. The superman theme tune made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. He saved the day and we’d go home and tie a towel round our neck and pretend to be superman. There was something magic about it!

I’m not wanting a return to the 80’s Superman, but in the same way Batman was revamped in Dark Knight, I was expecting more….

Tonight I watched an average alien movie that was far too long, with repetitive fights scenes.

Superman has lost its “super” appeal.

Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, Antje Traue, Laurence Fishburne and Ayelet Zurer. An impressive line up and director Zack Snyder is trying to create a new Superman for a new generation, but I just feel it didn’t deliver and I was very disappointed. It’s doesn’t even come close to Batman Dark Knight.

Henry Cavill is an excellent choice for Superman. I wasn’t too keen on Amy Adam as Lois Lane and Russell Crowe appears too much. I would have liked to have seen more of the Super boy years with parents Kevin Costner and Diane Lane.

MAN OF STEEL DOESNT QUITE DO IT FOR SUPERMAN, WHAT DARK KNIGHT DID FOR BATMAN.

Could have been so much better…. Rating 6/10
