The biggest baddest wolf comes to the Lyric Theatre this Christmas like you’ve never seen him before!
Kyron Bourke stars in the classic fairy tale, Little Red Riding Hood & The Big Bad Wolf in the Lyric production that’s full of beautiful music, magical illusions, and incredible performances.
Kyron is well known in the Belfast music scene. Until recently he performed late into the night with Tom Waits esque tones in his own Cabaret restaurant in Belfast, Teatro. Kyron was born into a theatrical family in Dublin and worked in musical theatre from an early age. In the mid-eighties he moved into jazz and worked as a session singer/pianist and a song writer as well as touring with bands such as The Hot House Flowers.
In his starring role as the lovable Big Bad Wolf in the Lyric Christmas production, Kyron delights audiences with his dulcet tones and an array of songs to keep the whole family entertained. All the action takes place against a beautifully imaginative set with a huge moon, twinkling stars and a magic grand piano. Throw in a caravan, a crew of singing helpers and there’s plenty to keep the audience smiling!
Little Red Riding Hood & The Big Bad Wolf tells the tale of the Maestros – a travelling family of actors who arrive in a strange town to perform their own version of the world’s best-loved fairy tale. When Mr Maestro hurts his back and can’t perform as the Big Bad Wolf, his daughters Rosie and Rachel head into the town to find a new actor and save the day, but is their new leading man a little too perfect…?
Written by award-winning Derek O’Connor, directed by Cahoots NI’s artistic director Paul Bosco Mc Eneaney with music by Irish Musical Comedy Awards winner Ursula Burns, Little Red Riding Hood & The Big Bad Wolf is packed full of song and dance to keep the whole family happy and in the festive mood.
The cast includes Roisin Gallagher (Pentecost, Weddins’ Weeins’ and Wakes, White Star of the North) in the role of Little Red, she is joined by Charlotte McCurry (The Crucible, The Jungle Book) who plays her sister. Other members of the Maestro family include, Frankie McCafferty as Mr Maestro and Christina Nelson as Mrs Maestro.
