POP superstars JLS will get the Titanic slipways jumping this summer with a charity concert as part of events taking place across the city during 2013 World Police and Fire Games. Buy tickets here!

The concert will take place on August 2 in association with leading local charity Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children, one of the official charity partners of the Games. The charity offers practical and emotional support to local children and young people with cancer and is set to open the doors of its brand new therapeutic short break centre Daisy Lodge next spring. Money raised through the concert will go towards this £3m build project.

The concert will be one of the band’s last high profile gigs before they officially split next year.
In addition to the concert, the boys will make the time to meet and greet local children and young adults living with cancer at a special workshop.

With local fans recently disappointed by One Direction’s decision to leave Belfast out of their upcoming world tour, the concert will give JLS a fantastic opportunity to entertain fans at an iconic Belfast landmark and will be a great warm up performance for their Greatest Hits Farewell Tour at the end of 2013. Up and coming Portadown band Microlip and Dublin’s Key West will also be there showcasing the best of local music.

The concert which takes place during the week of the World Police and Fire Games is a high profile event designed to entertain the many international competitors and visitors in Belfast for the Games and follows the Opening Ceremony the previous night at the Kings Hall.
Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children CEO Gillian Creevy, said: “Our charity offers vital practical and emotional support to local children and young people living with cancer and their families. We are delighted to be benefitting from such a high profile concert and welcome the band’s interest in meeting and working with local children and teenagers affected by cancer.”

A spokesman for JLS said: “As a band we have always been very vocal about our support for children and young people who find themselves in difficult circumstances which is why we are so excited to perform in Belfast as part of Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children’s charity concert! What makes this concert even more special is the opportunity to perform during the 2013 World Police and Fire Games – we were blown away to find out it’s the third largest multi-sport event in the world!! We can’t wait to play to competitors from all over the world and of course, our amazing Northern Ireland fans, at such an iconic location in what will be one of our last years together as a band.”

Tickets cost £19.50pp
