Wearing flesh-coloured underwear and lying on a giant plate – complete with to-scale cutlery, a side salad and a serving of BBQ sauce – beneath a banner that read, “Try to Relate to Who’s on Your Plate – Go Vegan”, Gemma McCorry, a 24-year-old psychology student and vegan model signed to Style Academy, was on display in Belfast city centre on Thursday morning.
The action – which came a few days into World Vegan Month, November – aimed to encourage passers-by to have compassion for the billions of animals who are abused and killed by the meat, egg, dairy and fishing industries every year by taking PETA’s 30-day pledge to go vegan. http://bit.ly/1dPSfTq
“Some people go vegan after looking an animal in the eyeand realizing that there’s a “who,” not a “what,” looking back. Others avoid meat, eggs, and dairy foods to ditch unwanted pounds or because they want to help the environment. Whatever the reason, there’s never been a better time to cut the meat and other animal-derived products out of your diet. ”
