Congratulations on your newborn! Raising a baby can be an exciting time period, but can also be scary if you are unsure of what to do. You will always want to ensure that the baby you are raising is both happy and healthy. That is often easier said than done, however, as it can be difficult at times to figure out what your baby wants. As you learn to understand them, you will learn how to accommodate their needs and how to care for them. Here are some tips on how to raise a happy and healthy baby.
Regular Meals
When it comes to nutrition, a baby is much different than the standard person. While we can get away with three meals per day, a baby needs much more. On average, the typical baby needs to eat every 2-3 hours or 8-12 times. What should you be feeding them?
A mixture of both baby food and formula is a great way to ensure that your baby is getting the nutrients that they need. When it comes time for them to sit down and eat, you will want to keep the mess to a minimum. A blog post at LittleBabyGear.com mentions placemats for babies that are easy to wash and safe for them to use. These mats can have built-in plates, meaning you can separate their food right on the mat for them. All of this means you can greatly reduce the amount of mess that your baby makes when it comes time to eat. The first step towards having a healthy baby is by getting them the meals and nutrition that they need each day.
Exercise
Your baby should also be able to move around throughout the day and get the exercise that they need. You don’t have to do anything too crazy in your home, but creating a space where you can allow them to crawl around will greatly help their health and their development. When creating the room, it is important that you remove any hazards that could be dangerous to them. Placing small objects that they can play with and explore will also get them moving around and will pique their curiosity. The sooner they start crawling and moving around, the sooner they will eventually start standing up and walking. Exercise is key to raising a healthy baby and allowing them to develop the necessary motor skills.
Give Them Attention
Some places will teach you to ignore your baby. While there is some merit to doing this, for the most part, you should be giving your baby the attention that it needs. Whenever a baby cries, it means that it wants or needs something. By going to your baby and providing for it, you can begin to build a relationship with it early on. The baby will learn to trust you. Not only that but the more you acknowledge their cries, the more you will begin to understand what they need. Giving them attention will help create a social baby that has a healthy bond with you.
Play Music For Them
Experts always recommend building your baby’s senses up as best as possible. One great way to do this is by playing music for them. If you find the right music, you will find your baby instantly start dancing and moving to the beat of the song. A big smile will form on their face and they will be happier than ever. Introducing them to music at a young age will not only help them develop their ear, but it will also get them moving and exercising.
Be Happy Yourself
Babies are keen on their surroundings and are able to pick up what is going on around them. If you are unhappy or there is a fight happening, it will greatly affect them. If you want your baby to live a happy life, you are going to have to do your best to be happy to the best of your abilities. This means at times you might have to fake it, but by doing so, you are doing the best to nurture the baby. You can’t raise a happy baby if you aren’t happy yourself.
These are all ways in which you can go about raising a healthy and happy baby. The road will be bumpy, and at times you will get frustrated and feel helpless, but if you stay with things, you will raise an amazing child. Do whatever you need to for the baby, but never neglect your own health and happiness as well as they are just as important. How do you plan on raising a happy and healthy baby?
