Homeless Aware: On Tuesday 29th March, young people involved in the Springboard “Gener8” programme spent some time on a sofa and on the street to highlight the issues around ‘hidden’ homelessness as well as life living on Belfast City streets.
The 3 day challenge, 29 – 31st March, led by the young people will experience real life homeless situations from finding a friend’s sofa to sleep on, to living on the streets of Belfast including; sleeping rough, queuing for food, shelter and showers at hostels.
Ryan & Marcus share some thoughts around the “Sofa & Street Challenge” and their first few hours on the streets as they continue to raise awareness of hidden homelessness! Day 2 into the challenge and what they’ve achieved so far is amazing. Keep an eye for more updates and to see these two courageous young men from Springboard, Gener8 programme challenge themselves to help others.
Tonight is the first night they have to spend sleeping rough on the streets! Some mixed feelings as they speak about feeling scared, cold and not knowing where to sleep! They both are really getting a sense what it’s like to be homeless in Belfast!
