Gibraltar International Dan Bent Signs for Larne FC!

Larne FC have announced an exciting addition to their squad with the signing of 29-year-old Gibraltar international midfielder Dan Bent. The commanding 6’2” playmaker joins the Invermen following a successful season with Lincoln Red Imps, where he helped secure the league title.

Originally from England, Bent began his football journey at Gillingham before heading across the Atlantic to play for several clubs in the United States, including MLS side Columbus Crew. In 2019, his path took him to Gibraltar, where he linked up with Bruno Magpies and current Larne boss Nathan Rooney.

The pair enjoyed a fruitful spell together, with Bent playing a key role in the Magpies’ rise from second bottom to European qualification and a national final in just six months. Their momentum continued into the following season, with the team securing another European berth and lifting a trophy – a campaign where Bent again played a vital part.

Most recently, he represented league champions Lincoln Red Imps, even featuring against Larne in last summer’s UEFA Conference League play-off. His consistent performances earned him a call-up to the Gibraltar national team, where he has now earned nine caps and scored two international goals.

Larne manager Nathan Rooney, delighted to be reunited with a player he knows well, praised Bent’s quality and character:

“Dan understands that hard work comes first – he sets the tone with his work rate and has the technical ability to back it up. He gives us a new dynamic in midfield as someone who can break lines and run beyond. He’s the type of player who will get fans off their seats.”

Rooney added that Bent’s international experience will be invaluable:

“Dan has proven he can perform at European and international levels. That knowledge and composure will be a huge asset to us. Plus, his desire to stay in the Gibraltar squad gives him even more drive to deliver at club level.”

Bent will wear the number 26 shirt at Inver Park, and fans won’t have to wait long to see him in action as Larne gear up for an exciting season ahead.
