Rejected from art school as a teenager, master tattoo artist Connor Curran of Holywood’s only tattoo studio, Crooked Mile Tattoo, turned his back on pursuing a formal education in art. He knew deep down that he had the raw talent and the determination needed to make it. Working for years to gain recognition for his work, Connor’s perseverance paid off in the end and people began to take notice of the young artist as one of the country’s brightest talents.
As one of the country’s brightest and most dynamic talents in the tattoo world, Connor’s unique illustrative style and incomparable techniques have left an impressive mark on the industry.
Bushmills® Irish Whiskey has collaborated with Connor as part of the brand’s #AnswerTheCall series which sees the local distillery collaborating with local talent to celebrate their stories and encourage others to discover and answer their own calling.
This month, the campaign puts creative arts into the spotlight with Bushmills providing a unique platform for Connor to showcase his talents in a brand new realm for the Holywood-based tattoo artist. In a collaborator-lead project, Connor has created a limited edition Bushmills t-shirt, inspired by the #AnswerTheCall campaign.
The ‘Bushmills X Crooked Mile Tattoo’ t-shirt represents the bold and defiant spirit synonymous with Bushmills whilst celebrating the innovative and creative design talent that exists in Northern Ireland. The t-shirts will be seen on bar staff in leading venues across Northern Ireland but fifty are available to win at answerthecall.co.uk via the competition section.
Getting inked is a bold move so Connor has shared his top tips to help you choose a confident, unique design, that you’ll be proud of forever.
In keeping with the creative arts theme for this month, Bushmills is also working with street artist Dean Kane, AKA Visual Waste to host ‘Whiskey and Muses’. The urban art exhibit which runs from the 25th – 31st August at The Gallery marks the street artist’s bold move into fine art for the first time.
