MONTH-LONG FESTIVAL OF PROSECCO RETURNS TO THE MERCHANT HOTEL

Belfast’s five-star Merchant Hotel is set to sparkle this September with the highly-anticipated return of its annual Festival of Prosecco.

The month-long festival, which has been running since 2017, is a firm favourite with fans of the fabulous fizz and will comprise of an array of special events and drinks offers to celebrate the nation’s love of bubbles.

Last year, despite running a reduced events schedule in line with covid restrictions, almost 3,500 glasses of Prosecco were purchased, and this year is expected to top that figure following early consumer demand for ticketed events.

In the opulent surroundings of The Great Room Restaurant and Cocktail Bar, guests can enjoy Valdo Prosecco tasting flights showcasing three different styles of the Italian sparkling wine, or choose a cocktail with a twist from a speciality cocktail menu carefully created by The Merchant’s award-winning mixologists and using the finest Prosecco. A limited edition Prosecco Afternoon Tea will also be available to book midweek (Monday-Friday), with each guest receiving a complimentary glass of Valdo Origine Prosecco.

Berts Jazz Bar and The Cloth Ear have also created their own innovative list of Prosecco cocktails for the festival and ticketed events will take place across the hotel’s bars and restaurants. These include a Battle of the Bubbles: Champagne vs Prosecco evening on the hotel’s Rooftop Garden, a Prosecco Masterclass in the Champagne Lounge and a one-off Prosecco Supper Club in Berts Jazz Bar.

Speaking ahead of the Festival of Prosecco, Gavin Carroll, general manager, The Merchant Hotel said:

“We are thrilled to be hosting our annual Festival of Prosecco once again this September. Last year was a much smaller celebration in contrast to previous years, so we’ve worked hard to create an enhanced 2021 events programme that will give guests something to toast to next month.”
