Comprised of five young Irish vocalists who all grew up in the North side of Dublin, Ronan, Keith, Stephen, Mikey and Shane – better known as Boyzone – embraced the second half of the 1990s in true classic pop style. Combining reservoirs of boyish charm with slick song-writing (much of which was co-written by the band mates themselves) the group found enormous success throughout Ireland and U.K., where 16 of their first 17 singles became Top Five hits. Six of those songs made it to number one, establishing Boyzone as the first ever Irish pop group to top the British charts so regularly.
After a six year break, Boyzone re-formed in 2008 for a 29 date arena tour of Ireland & the UK and release of ‘Back Again…No Matter What’, scoring another Top Five hit with the new song ‘Love You Anyway.’
The band dedicated their 2010 album ‘Brother’ to Stephen Gately and subsequently toured Ireland and UK. In 2013 they marked their 20th anniversary with a brand new studio album, ‘BZ20′ and nationwide tour which spanned huge venues such as Dublin and London’s O2 Arenas and Birmingham’s NEC.
Féile an Phobail Director Kevin Gamble said: “It’s one of the thrills of working at Féile an Phobail that you get to make announcements such as this. We’re hugely excited to bring one of the biggest boy bands of all time to West Belfast, where audiences will be able to enjoy them in the wonderful surrounds of Falls Park. Féile had its 25th birthday last year, and the lads at Boyzone are also continuing to go from strength to strength after celebrating their own landmark anniversary. After more than 20 years of success, we’re delighted to welcome Boyzone to Féile an Phobail and West Belfast!”

This year’s Féile comedy night doesn’t disappoint, with one of the very biggest stand-up names in the business. Jason Manford has become a household name in the past decade and is currently the host of the BBC’s brand new A Question of Sport Super Saturday. A northern English writer, comedian, actor, radio and television presenter of Irish descent, Jason began his career in 1999, while working at the Buzz Comedy Club in Manchester. He was collecting glasses when a performer didn’t arrive for an evening set, Jason, who was 17 at the time stepped in to fill the gap, an event which marked the beginning of his glittering comedy career.
Six gigs later he was crowned The City Life North West Comedian of the Year and the rest is history! Féile is delighted to welcome Jason To Belfast.

Mixing punk, ska and reggae “Too Much Pressure” contains the irresistible hits “On My Radio”, “Three Minute Hero” and “Missing Words”. It successfully reflected the social and political issues of the early Thatcher years in Britain and gave a voice to disaffected youth across the racial divide.

When Nanci Griffith called Frances Black “the sweetest voice of Ireland,” she was paying tribute to someone who has been one of Ireland’s best-loved and most enduring artists since the late 80s, with a string of best-selling albums, awards and other accolades behind her.
Starting with the legendary Black Family, Frances has always had a unique and powerful artistic vision, and has won international acclaim with her music.
Intelligent and articulate, with a keenly developed social conscience, Frances is very politically aware and has strong opinions on many issues. She is renowned for her rendition of “Legal Illegal,” a song by Ewan McColl that powerfully rails against injustice.
Frances’ career in music has been so successful that it posed a dilemma when it came to choosing the 40 tracks for The Essential Frances Black compilation, as there were so many hit singles and songs that audiences loved, to choose from. We hope that this wonderful collection will give hours of enjoyment from the voice of the lady who has captured the hearts of so many people all around the world over the past 20 years.
France will be supported by marvellous Co. Down singer-songwriter Brigid O’Neill and her band. They blend great country blues with folk, jazz and a dash of bluegrass, to produce a sound that delights the audience. Brigid’s rich, clear voice is beautifully complemented by the John McGurgan’s mesmeric, sensitive guitar playing, and the pulse of Bill Johnson’s upright bass, all tied together with captivating close vocal harmonies.
Féile an Phobail is delighted to welcome them both to West Belfast and you a very special evening at Clonard Monastery.
