Internationally renowned Italian film composer Ennio Morricone announced today that he will bring his “60 Years of Music Tour” to Dublin’s 3Arena on 14 February 2016.
Tickets go on sale this Friday 05 June at 9am
Mr Morricone conducted an unforgettable sold out 3Arena concert last February, which received extended standing ovations and overwhelming critical acclaim.
Morricone said “ The last show in Dublin was such a moving experience, there was such a strong emotional connection made between every member of the orchestra, the choir and the audience. I just had to return to your lovely city and recreate that magic one more time. It was one of the most memorable experiences I ever had in my lifetime in music”.
“Spectacular. A true master at work” The Irish Independent
“Next year I will perform a whole new program with new highlights, which I am already working on. Of course, there will always be the classic pieces from the great Sergio Leone westerns and The Mission. But overall, the experience will be different this time. I plan to include a suite, for example, with pieces of music, which I composed for 7 different movies which all won Oscars!”
The announcement follows a hugely successful European arena tour which saw the Maestro perform to over 150,000 audience members in 22 European cities.
The 60 Years of Music World Tour will premiere in Prague on the 15 January 2016. Prague is home to Morricone’s beloved Czech National Symphony Orchestra, which accompanied the Maestro on his previous international tours and which recorded with him for major international motion pictures including the 2013 release of The Best Offer by Giuseppe Tornatore, for which Ennio Morricone received the European Film Award in the category “Best Composer”. As with previous tours, the production will feature over 200 musicians and singers on stage.
Ennio Morricone has composed over 500 scores for cinema and television as well as over 100 absolute music works and is the only film composer in history to have received the honorary Academy Award for his lifetime achievement. Highlights include his scores for Once Upon a Time in the West, One Upon a time in America, A Fistful of Dollars, The Untouchables, The Mission, Cinema Paradiso, The Best Offer, etc. Morricone’s score for The Good, The Bad and The Ugly holds the number two position in the Top 200 ranking of best film soundtracks ever composed.
