BELFAST PREMIERE OF INTIMATE NEW SHOW ‘TIMES ARE GONE FOR HONEST MEN’, 2-3 March, EUROPA HOTEL
Dynamo’s brand-new magic theatre concept The Abandoned Room will come to Belfast this weekend (2-23 March) for the city’s first performance of his intimate and highly personal new show Times Are Gone for Honest Men.
The Abandoned Room is a uniquely magical theatre space, developed and curated by Dynamo to play host to the world’s best magicians in an atmospheric speakeasy setting for a limited audience.
Such top-class magicians are most commonly seen on television performing primarily to a camera, or in theatres performing large-scale shows to thousands of people at one time: The Abandoned Room is designed to offer the best and most immersive experience in magic. The Venues’ unique and intimate environment means that unlike in large theatres or on screen, the boundaries of close-up magic are put to the absolute test.
With Dynamo turning creative producer as well as performer, Times Are Gone for Honest Men combines highly personal storytelling about how his childhood experiences forced him to learn skills which led him to be a world class magician, and how this resilience and creativity continues to drive him as an adult.
Times Are Gone… intimately layers illusion and interactivity to put the audience into the magicians’ mindset and turn crowd members into the real performers.
“It’s been amazing taking my magic into an intimate space, where people feel relaxed because their every need is taken care of, and because they can see every corner of the room: it’s in spaces like this where we can really create a sense of disbelief and astonishment that hasn’t been felt before. The Abandoned Room gives me the opportunity to push the boundaries of the craft. I’m very excited to be taken this new and exciting concept our on the road.”
