From crisp whites to fruity reds and celebratory bubbles, Lidl Northern Ireland has everything you need to create the perfect at-home wine cellar this Christmas and New Year. Whether you’ve got the nose for choosing wine or you’re a novice, we’ve put together a handy guide to choosing the best bottles to uncork this Christmas season.

Impress family and friends without the high price tag this festive season with five of Lidl’s highest quality seasonal wines – all for less than £40 – each wine helping to add elegance and sparkle to your festivities.

Christmas Morning Fizz

Fizz the season to start your day with a glass of festive bubbles on Christmas morning. The Prosecco Spumante DOC (was £6.99, now £5.99) is a fresh, off-dry, lightly creamy, and fruity fizz with notes of brioche, apple, and pear. This glass of bubbles is best paired with light canapes or as an aperitif before the main feast.

Christmas Dinner

There is no one size fits all when it comes to Christmas dinner, so be sure to offer your guests the choice of red and white wine.

For those who prefer whites, the Bourgogne Chardonnay at £12.99 is a light white with citrus notes which pairs magically with Lidl’s Fresh Irish Turkey from £8.99, available in-store from 20th December.

Lidl’s deep purple-red Malbec Uco Valley Argentina (was £6.49, now £4.99) exhibits a bouquet of dark fruits such as blackberry and black cherry with notes cocoa, spice and tobacco which pack a real flavour punch to accompany your turkey, but it complements Lidl’s Deluxe Irish Angus Striploin Joint perfectly.

After-Dinner Charcuterie Board

No Christmas is complete without a delicious charcuterie board accompanied by lots of crusty fresh breads from Lidl’s in-store bakery. The perfect pairing for your cheeses and cured meats such as prosciutto and salami is the Chianti Reserva (was £7.99, now £6.29) – a well-balanced, ripe red with flavours of dark cherry, plum and blackberry with savoury undertones.  From tangy Deluxe Mature Blue Stilton to perfectly ripened Deluxe Tipperary Brie, you’ll find all your favourites at Lidl along with Deluxe Irish Crackers, relishes and all the fruits and nuts that pair perfectly with them all.

New Year’s Eve Sparkler

When it comes to sparkling wine, Lidl has a diverse range of Prosecco, Cava, and Champagne to choose from. If you’re looking for something a little different to toast to 2024, the Moscato d’Asti at £7.99 is lightly sparkling, sweet wine with notes of lemon, mandarin orange, and pear, which gives this wine a celebratory feel that’s perfect for New Year’s Eve.

The Showstopper

If you are looking to spend a bit more to really impress or to gift someone some luxurious bubbles this Christmas, Lidl has two showstopping champagnes in store. The Champagne Bissinger Blanc de Blanc at £32.99 is a bright, balanced fizz with hazelnut aromas and the Champagne Bissinger Premier Cru at £29.99 is a crisp fizz with beautiful notes of brioche, apple, and pear. Both champagnes are sure to spark a bit of magic at the dinner table this Christmas and New Year.

Impressing your guests with a high-quality seasonal selection of wine does not have to come with a high-price tag.
