Thousands of electronic music fans are expected to arrive in Derry this week for Ireland’s premier electronic music festival, Celtronic 2015. This will be the fifteenth year of the acclaimed festival which has been described as ‘Ireland’s answer to Sonar’ From Wednesday June 24th – Sunday June 28th , Derry will host some of the biggest names in electronic music at some of the city’s finest venues including The Guildhall, St Columbs Hall and The Glassworks.
The festival kicks off at The Guildhall on Wednesday June 24th with an amazing opening night event hosted by MANO LE TOUGH & The DRIFTER’s Maeve Records. The following night sees the festival move to The Glassworks, Great James St for a live performance from RECONDITE, rated the No.1 Live Electronic Music act by Resident Advisor with support from the increasing hot FORT ROMEAU. On Friday June 26th, The Nerve Centre will see Swiss DJ/Producer/Remixer, RIPPERTON, famed for his immersive techno and refined house music make his Derry debut alongside one of the most requested live acts in the electronic music scene, HENRIK SCHWARZ.
On Saturday June 27th, St Columbs Hall will host the biggest lineup of electronic music talent ever assembled in the city. Legendary Detroit techno innovator, DERRICK MAY leads a stunning lineup that also features a live show from Warp Records, CLARK, one of the most consistently innovative and exciting acts on the planet. FRANCESCO TRISTANO will also return to Derry to perform his live show that traces the fine line connecting the classical piano with the latest generation of keyboards and synthesizers. OBJEKT, one of the most striking techno producers to emerge in the last-half decade and THE CYCLIST complete the headliners at this unmissable event. Celtronic 2015 will come to a close with a daytime/nighttime event at The Craft Village and The Glassworks with German house maestro MOVE D and SPACE DIMENSION CONTROLLER.
As always, the festival features a strong programme of local and national acts including live performances from CONFUTE, GO WOLF, DOCUMENTA, STRENGTH, VINCENT and SHAMMEN DELLY and performances from resident DJs at clubnights THE QUEEN & DISCO, JIKA JIKA, BEKUZ, UNDERLYING FORM, NTWRK, NOISE and DEEP FRIED FUNK.
