Brighten Up Your Home For Spring

As we are entering the spring season and the weather is gradually getting warmer, now is the perfect time to brighten up your home for spring. Redecorating for different times of the year is a great way to get excited for the season ahead and bring a fresh feeling to your home. Besides, it is a super fun task too!

That being said, it can be tricky to know where to start when transitioning your home decor from winter to spring, especially if you’re a first-timer. So get ready to visit your favourite homestore Ireland location because here are some easy and affordable tips on getting your home ready for the warm season.

Get into DIY

For anyone who likes to be hands-on with things and enjoys a bit of crafting, a weekend DIY project can be the perfect way to brighten up their home in the most affordable way possible. This doesn’t have to be anything complicated – it can be simply re-painting a bit of old furniture in a new, fun colour.

If you are looking for something more challenging, however, there are so many DIY decor pieces you could try making, learning a new skill along the way. For instance, making paper flowers, decorating old vases or sewing new covers for old cushions. DIY projects are not only fun and rewarding to do, but they are also a good way to repurpose old items for a second life. If you need more ideas, Pinterest is great for inspiration!

Colours and materials

Just like you change your wardrobe for the spring, you can do the exact same with your home decor. Since we spend most of our time indoors in the winter, most homes are decorated with thick blankets, neutral colours, lots of candles and anything else that will bring a cosy and warm feeling. However, springtime is the time to be more fun with your decor. Bring some colour into your home – if bright and bold is not your thing, try pastel colours or flower patterns. You can add more colour with new blankets, curtains, bedding, table covers or rugs.

It’s not just the colours though – the materials you use will make a huge difference too. Try and stay away from the thick and heavy materials, such as fluffy blankets and chunky knitted wool pieces. Instead, when picking new decor pieces, go for the light and airy materials, like linen, cotton or bamboo.

The little things count

If you are worried about staying within your budget but still want to buy new decor pieces for your home, remember that the little things can have just as much of an impact. For example, buying a new colourful fruit bowl and some spring-themed tea towels will not break the bank but it will add accents of freshness and fun to your kitchen. The same goes for the rest of your home: think towels, door and bath mats, vases, candles, framed prints and any other small ornaments.

Adding a bit of nature and greenery is also a great and affordable way to bring spring into your home. A wildflower bouquet can act as a centrepiece for a table, while small houseplants will perfectly accompany any type of decor and add a bit of freshness to any room.
