Phoenix Natural Gas, in conjunction with the NI Natural Gas Association (NINGA), have welcomed the news that the popular government funded Boiler Replacement Allowance has been extended beyond March 2017, enabling more householders to benefit from improved energy efficiency in the home.
Under the scheme, home owners are eligible for a grant of up to £1,000 towards the cost of replacing inefficient boilers that are over 15 years old with an energy efficient condensing boiler.
Since its introduction in 2012, the scheme has assisted around 30,000 homeowners upgrade their central heating boilers.
Stephen Kane, Deputy Chairman of the NI Natural Gas Association, commented, “The Boiler Replacement Allowance has been hugely important in enabling homeowners to upgrade their central heating. I want to urge homeowners to take advantage of this scheme which I am delighted has been extended for a further year. This grant will no doubt give many local people the confidence to make that step to upgrade their heating system to natural gas and has already proved to be very popular with homeowners across Northern Ireland.”
Jonathan Martindale, Sales and Marketing Director of Phoenix Natural Gas, said, “The Boiler Replacement Allowance has offered valuable assistance to householders considering a central heating upgrade. The major benefit of this scheme is that it is very broad in its eligibility criteria, making it available to a large number of householders in Northern Ireland so that more people can take advantage of lower fuel costs and improved lifestyle benefits.”
“This scheme has also added employment and trade to the many independent boiler installation and maintenance companies operating locally. Phoenix Natural Gas and the wider Northern Ireland natural gas industry very much welcome the extension of this scheme for an additional year and we would encourage householders to check their eligibility and avail of the scheme while you can.”
