Four-time Paralympic gold medal winner Bethany Firth took time out of her training schedule this week to make a surprise visit to the Wheel Active Club at Better Leisure’s Belvoir Activity Centre, a club run in conjunction with Disability Sport NI.
Bethany, who won three swimming golds and a silver in Rio this summer, took the opportunity to show off her medals to the excited children, parents and staff. Many grabbed the opportunity to have a photo or two taken holding Bethany’s medals.
Commenting on the special guest, Belvoir Activity Centre general manager Declan Sheridan said:
“It was brilliant having a homegrown Paralympic champion visit Belvoir Activity Centre this week and the children loved meeting her. Bethany is an inspiration to us all and it was great to welcome her to Belvoir, where she spent time talking to the children and staff about what it takes to be a sporting superstar. At Better, we’re passionate about getting our communities across Belfast more active, more often and Bethany is a terrific ambassador for sport in our country.”
