THREE Belfast stores have picked up awards at Musgrave Retail Partners annual event on Friday night at the Slieve Donard Hotel, Newcastle.
TV personality Roy Walker hosted the event and presented the ‘Newcomer of the Year’ award, which was sponsored by Mondelez UK Ltd, to Mace Titanic store owners Graham Johnston and Andy Davis.
Donagh McGoveran’s two Centra stores also picked up accolades with Malone Road winning Gold and Stranmillis picking up Bronze, in the High Convenience category sponsored by Kerry Foods.
Musgrave Retail Partners organises the Gala Ball event each year for its 250 independent retailers in Northern Ireland across the SuperValu, Centra and Mace brands and one ‘Store of the Year’ is chosen for each retail group, using an independent audit of all stores, with each facing a rigorous process of checks and evaluations.
Mace Sales Director of Musgrave Retail Partners, Trevor Magill, said:
“Congratulations to Graham Johnston, Andy Davis and their team at Mace Titanic on achieving the Newcomer accolade. Mace Titanic has been a fantastic addition to the Mace brand and to the local area as it’s the only convenience store serving a community of more than 1,000 people.”
Centra Sales Director of Musgrave Retail Partners, Nigel Maxwell, added:
“Congratulations to Donagh, Orla and staff at Centra Malone Road and Centra Stranmillis. The recipients of these prestigious accolades were chosen from over 250 SuperValu, Centra and Mace stores that make up Musgrave Retail Partners Northern Ireland, putting them at the forefront of progressive independent retailing in the market.”
