The Stena Line Belfast Giants travelled to Scotland on Saturday to take on the Fife Flyers Challenge Cup Group A knowing a win would bring them closer to clinching the group.

Michael Forney was a healthy scratch with Darryl Lloyd and Chris Higgins returning to the line-up from injury. Higgins, who had been missing through injury since September, scored the Giants’ first goal of the night to give them the lead over their hosts at 21:18.

In the third period, Giants captain Adam Keefe added his third of the season at 47:58 and his team’s second of the night to extend the visitors’ lead to 2-0.

And with 43 seconds remaining, Darryl Lloyd also got his name on the scoresheet, making it 3-0, assisted by Chris Higgins.

Both sides will now travel back to Belfast to clash at the SSE Arena on Sunday, face-off at 5pm with the Giants needing one point to secure first place in Challenge Cup Group A.
