Two goals from Jay Rosehill bookended another big away win as intu Braehead Clan turned a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 victory over Belfast Giants

It was part one of a double header, with the Giants coming to Glasgow tomorrow to contest the Intu Cup as both sides prepare for the new season. Belfast were first to get their names on the scoresheet when Steve Saviano opened the scoring early in the opening period as the home side took the lead. Clan hauled themselves level as Rosehill marked his debut with a goal as Stephen Murphy was beaten in the Giants goal.

But the home side managed to edge in front again as James Desmarais was on hand to tuck the puck into the net to make it 2-1. Ryan Finnerty’s men fought on in the second period, but found the Giants’ defence hard to break down for much of the middle session. But it needed Scott Pitt to restore the game back to level terms just before the second interval as this game got ever tighter.

Cody Carlson put Braehead in front in the third period as the Clan started to turn the game in their favour, after being denied just a minute before. Carlson then went toe to toe with Jonathan Boxill with seven minutes remaining as both men dropped the gloves to get the crowd going.

But it was Clan that wrapped things up with five seconds left as Rosehill picked up his second of the night on the empty net to secure another big away pre-season victory.
