Swedish DJ Avicii brought a taste of the superclub atmosphere to Boucher Road Playing Fields last night, with a massive headline set to bring the final day of Tennent’s Vital 2013 to a close.
The sun shone on Belfast as tens of thousands of music fans descended on Boucher Road Playing Fields for the final day of the festival, which also saw Tinie Tempah, Rudimental, Naughty Boy and Tommy Trash take to the stage.
The atmosphere was electric as the Swedish DJ took to the decks. His set combined massive anthems with spectacular lighting and pyrotechnics, much to the delight of the rapturous crowd. Hits such as Levels and Wake Me Up were greeted with a massive roar from the crowd, with a special cheer when he played The Undertones’ Teenage Kicks, which the Northern Irish band had played themselves just days earlier on the very same stage when they played Day 1 of Tennent’s Vital.
Over the past 3 days, the biggest ever Tennent’s Vital has seen some of the world’s biggest acts take to the stage, including Kings of Leon, The Vaccines, The Undertones and The Minutes [Day 1], Snow Patrol, Jason Mraz, Kodaline and Foy Vance [Day 2] and Avicii, Tinie Tempah, Rudimental, Naughty Boy and Tommy Trash [Day 3].
Nicola McCleery, Head of Marketing at Tennent’s NI, said: “Over the past three days, we’ve been privileged to welcome some of the world’s biggest artists to Tennent’s Vital. We’d like to thank our partners MCD for securing such a phenomenal line-up for this year’s festival – we’ve seen some truly world class performances here at Boucher Road Playing Fields throughout the festival. This year has been the biggest ever Tennent’s Vital and it’s also been our best yet – there’s been a wonderful atmosphere here and our audience have made it a very special past few days, and we’d like to thank them for all of their support.”
Denis Desmond of MCD added, “MCD Productions wish to extend their gratitude and thanks to all those who made Tennent’s Vital a great success, in particular our partners Tennent’s, the local residents, businesses and local community, Belfast City Council, PSNI and security personnel, Translink, NIAS & Medical staff, Fire Service, the many Artists, crews and all those involved in running the event, not least over 90,000 very well behaved fans who made the whole experience special – thank you.”
