Keep Your Cool: 4 Tips to Help Reduce Airport Security Stress

Travelling isn’t always easy, especially if you are going abroad. There can be a lot that goes wrong and some stressful situations to navigate in between getting from your house to by the side of a pool on a sun lounger with a cocktail in your hand. Airport security can often be one of the most stressful parts of travelling, with long queues and lots of rules to follow. Here are some tips to keep in mind to reduce airport security stress and go through without a hitch.

Take Your Time

Get to the airport in good time so that you are not rushing through security. Give yourself some time to go and get a coffee before you go through and find the smoking area outside of the terminal so that you can use your vape from Go Smoke Free if you like. Go Smoke Free offers a range of nicotine replacement products including disposable vapes and other vape kits that can be a good idea if you are trying to quit smoking, but don’t want the stress to get the better of you at the airport. If you’ve had some time to collect yourself before you go through security, you will feel better.

Wear Loose Clothing

Bulky clothing like jackets or accessories like belts will usually have to come off through security, so wear something comfortable and loose. After all, you are travelling, so nobody is going to judge you for getting on a flight in tracksuit bottoms. The less you have to take off, the faster you’ll get through the security and the body scanner. Wear comfortable shoes like trainers, as footwear like boots will also usually need to be removed.

Check Your Bag for Liquids

When going through airport security with your hand luggage, one of the most common issues that warrant a bag check and will hold you up is liquid in the bag where it is not supposed to be. Before going through, take some time to make sure that all the liquids you need to take are out of your bag and in the plastic wallet provided, and all under 100ml. A stray bottle of water in your bag could hold you up for a while, so it’s good to do a final check before you go through to make sure.

Get Electronics Ready

Electronic devices such as your phone, tablet, smartwatch, or your laptop if you are taking them with you will need to be removed from your bag and put in a tray on their own, so get them ready before going through. It might be a good idea to take a canvas bag or similar that you can put them in, so it’s easy to get them out and put them in the tray to go through the security scanners.

Airport security can be busy and stressful. Often, however, hold-ups and issues can be avoided with a little bit of forward planning. If you’re going abroad this summer, keep these tips in mind to make going through security at the airport a breeze.
