Aer Lingus has been awarded the title of Northern Ireland’s ‘Best Domestic Airline’ at the 24th annual Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism awards, held on Friday 16th October at the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa, Newcastle.

The event was attended by over 450 VIPs, guests and decision-makers from across the British Isles, and was compered by broadcast personality Gerry Kelly.

Aer Lingus beat off stiff competition from BA, Easyjet and Flybe to take the award, which was voted for by the travel trade at the gala ceremony organised by Northern Ireland Travel News.

Business Development Manager for Aer Lingus Northern Ireland, Andrea Hunter, who collected the award on behalf of the airline said; “We are delighted that Aer Lingus has won the ‘Best Domestic Airline’ award. 2015 has been a very strong year for the company. We continually develop and innovate our product offering and have recently launched a new website new.aerlingus.com which we are confident will greatly improve and streamline our guests’ booking experience.

“It’s almost three years now since we moved our operations to George Best Belfast City Airport and it is reassuring that the travelling public acknowledge that Aer Lingus is delivering the best possible travel experience.

“We experienced a huge demand for flights to the sun this year, which is why we have introduced larger A320 aircraft on our sun routes in Summer 2016 and announced a bumper 2016 summer schedule for local holidaymakers.

“We have launched a brand new route from Belfast City to Alicante and more frequency on our existing flights to Malaga, Faro and Palma in 2016.

“I would like to thank the Northern Ireland public for their continued support, and to reconfirm our commitment to providing great value for money and choice of destinations from Belfast City Airport,” Ms Hunter added.

Flights to all Aer Lingus’ Summer 2016 destinations are now on sale, with fares from Belfast to new destination Alicante starting from £39.99 one-way, including taxes and charges.
