Packing hacks for all kinds of holiday this Summer from TUI

Heading away this Summer? TUI has put together their top tips designed to help holidaymakers cut stress, save space and stay organised when packing for their summer’s adventures.

  1. Plan your outfits in advance
Help to avoid overpacking by planning your looks based on the expected weather and your itinerary. TUI’s Holiday Weather guide gives you a clear monthly climate overview for every destination, so you always know exactly what to pack.  Of course, it also depends what kind of holiday you’re packing for – check out our recommendations below:
  • Beach breaks
    • Pack swimsuits/trunks, flip‑flops, towels, light clothing, sun protection and a waterproof bag for wet items. Bring something to read or listen to while you relax.
  • City escapes
    • Comfortable walking shoes, weather‑appropriate layers, a backpack, a waterproof jacket and sun lotion are must‑haves for exploring.
  • Family holidays
    • Think baby essentials, high‑SPF sun cream, insect bite cream and entertainment for little ones – though many TUI family resorts offer plenty of activities on site, from aerial adventure courses and football academies in Holiday Villages to water activities and clubs for toddlers, kids and teenagers at TUI BLUE hotels.
  • Adventure trips
    • Bring activity‑friendly clothing, a reusable water bottle, a towel and a waterproof camera. Most specialist equipment can be rented at your destination.
  1. Build a mini capsule wardrobe
A capsule wardrobe is a curated selection of versatile clothing items that can be mixed and matched to create several different outfits. Doing this can help cut down on the amount of items in your luggage, while making sure you stay stylish this summer.
  2. Use packing cubes and zip-lock bags
Organise  daywear, nightwear, underwear and kids’ items into separate packing cubes . Compression cubes can help increase the amount of space in your case, too – just make sure you roll your clothes to the size of the cube to minimise creasing. Keep a spare for dirty laundry! You can also protect liquids by keeping them in zip‑lock bags to prevent spills and use elastic bands to keep cables tidy and tangle‑free!
  3. Keep first‑day essentials in your hand luggage
Pack swimwear, medication, toiletries, sunglasses and a change of clothes in your hand luggage so you can start your holiday straight away, just in case your suitcase is delayed.
  4. Protect clothes with shower caps
When you’re packing for your trip home, wrap sandy or muddy shoes and clothes in hotel shower caps to keep the rest of your luggage clean.
  5. Check airline and airport guidelines
Baggage rules vary by airline, so be sure to check your allowance before packing. If you’re travelling with hand luggage only, be sure to also check security requirements before travelling to avoid delays. Luckily with TUI, if you’re booking a package holiday, you won’t need to agonise over what to leave behind as it will include at least 20kg of checked-in luggage per person and 10kg for under 2s, which means there’s plenty of room to pack those extra outfit options you’ve been debating.
