#LoveBelfast guide to Saturday 20.04.13
10:00am – The MAC celebrates it’s first birthday so get a complimentary tea/coffee and cupcake from it’s trendy restaurant “The Canteen”. There will be goodies and fun throughout the day and take the opportunity to check out the Andy Warhol exhibition.
12:30pm – Brunch at St. George’s Saturday Market. A fusion of tempting speciality foods from around the world as well as handmade crafts, flowers, plants and local artwork. Sample the products or relax with a coffee and a newspaper while listening to some of the best local musicians as they play live.
1:30pm – Jump on a Red sightseeing Belfast bus and take a tour of the city. Visit places you’ve never been including Crumlin Road Gaol. Drop in to the Titanic centre for a visit then visit the Dock cafe. A pop-up cafe with a difference the cafe has an honesty box instead of a till. Which means you can choose how much you want to pay for your coffee, tea, biscuit or sandwiches.
3:00pm – The Treehouse at AM:PM is Belfast’s only roof top restaurant. Enjoy live music, a cold Corona beer and some Mexican influenced cuisine. I recommend the sharing platter. Live music 3-6pm with Barry McCrudden.
5:30pm – A little bit of jazz heaven can be found at McHugh’s Bar this afternoon. Featuring the astonishing US vocalist Dana Masters and fellow American, saxophone sensation Meilana Gillard. The pair are backed by some of Northern Ireland’s best jazzers including drummer Steve Davis, pianist Scott Flanigan, bass player Carl Harvey and trumpeter Linley Hamilton.
7:00pm – It’s cocktail time and you’ll find it hard to beat a pre-dinner cocktail from The Fitzwilliam Hotel bar. I recently attended a cocktail making bar school at the hotel and recommend the Cosmopolitan or the Irish smoke and sour.
8:00pm – La Bastille restaurant on the Lisburn Road, brings that little bit of “Je ne sais quoi” to Belfast, with amazing wines and delicious French dishes. Food really is amazing in this place and they have excellent offers via their Facebook page.
10:30pm – Time to let you hair down. The Foo fighter Tribute band are performing in the Empire Music hall or chill out at Lilys bar on the Lisburn Road.
Whatever you do this weekend – Enjoy!
