Commenting on the 5 year anniversary and the upcoming events, Esther Dobbin, Commercial Operations Manager for the National Trustsaid, ‘As part of our anniversary celebrations we wanted to open up the Giants Causeway to the community and offer them the opportunity to experience the outstanding beauty of this world-heritage site at times when they wouldn’t necessarily think of visiting.

‘Over the past five years the centre has been widely recognised for its innovation and excellence and offers visitors the opportunity to completely immerse themselves in the Giant’s Causeway Experience.  With tourism as a key economic driver, we are committed to supporting our international guests as well as the local community and we hope that the activity planned over the summer will offer visitors the chance to experience this world heritage site in all its glory.’

The Visitor Centre building which was designed by Heneghan Peng Architects is widely recognised for its sustainability and design, winning awards such as the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ Award 2012 for sustainability in design, materials, energy, construction management and ecology.
