New Lyric Operatic Company is proud to present the Northern Ireland premiere of Irving Berlin’s 1950’s classic, White Christmas. The Belfast based musical theatre company that brought you over six decades of musical classics rings in the festive season at the Grand Opera House.

Originally based on the iconic movie starring Bing Crosby, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas tells the story of two ex-army pals as they team up with a pair of star seeking sisters to put on a show to save a remote Vermont ski lodge that’s fallen on hard times.

The boards are battered, egos are bruised, but with love, romance and many beautiful songs such as ‘Sisters’, ‘Blue Skies’ and the legendary ‘White Christmas’, all wrapped up in breath taking dance numbers it is a show to cherish for the entire family.

Directed by Derry Playhouse’s Kieran Griffiths, he is currently taking a sideways step from producing professional productions such as Josef Locke – A Grand Adventure, to being at the helm of this musical spectacular with an amateur dramatic production. Nevertheless he is taking on the challenge and loving it as he shares his vision on the show –

“White Christmas is cheeky, uplifting and a heck of a lot of fun. The cast are exceptional and will certainly do Irving Berlin’s show proud. I love the passion of the people involved and it has been an opportunity to collaborate with some of the best talents in Northern Ireland’s musical theatre scene. I am proud to be directing a musical that is so close to peoples’ hearts and delighted to produce Northern Ireland’s premiere of the show.”

Accompanying Kieran to the directorial fore is choreographer Wendy Mairs who is tackling an eclectic genre of dance styles from tap and ballroom to ballet and is bringing the true spirit of White Christmas to life on the big stage –

“It has been an absolute treat to work with such a creative mix of talents and to play around with many different genres. This really has been so enjoyable to work on and their enjoyment will be shining through to the audience every night of the show.”

With classic songs performed by the award winning Company, a heart-warming story and a flourish of production magic it’s the perfect way to start anyone’s Christmas!
