What’s On in Belfast This Weekend (11–13 September)

Belfast’s diary is packed from Friday through Sunday — musicals, rugby, opera, wellbeing, guitars and a Blues away day. Here’s what to aim for this weekend (11–13 September), with the full month still mapped in our September Belfast events guide.

Friday night

Ulster v Ospreys kick off at 19:45 at Affidea Stadium — a pre-season friendly chance to get back to the ground before the serious stuff. Same night, Mamma Mia! is still packing The O2 (the run wraps Saturday), and the Belfast Guitar Festival opens at Crescent Arts Centre with a Fleetwood Mac tribute among the early sets.

Stage of the weekend

At the Lyric, Paddy Armstrong continues through 10–13 September. From Saturday, Northern Ireland Opera’s Carmen opens at the Grand Opera House (run 12–19 September) — a proper big-night option if musicals aren’t your bag. Mamma Mia! has Friday and Saturday left if you still need that ABBA hit.

WellFest at Ormeau Park

Saturday and Sunday (12–13 September), WellFest Belfast takes over Ormeau Park, 9:30am–6pm — the first Northern Ireland edition of the wellbeing festival. Movement, talks and outdoor energy; check wellfestni.com for the latest line-up and tickets rather than trusting a second-hand price list.

Guitars at the Crescent

The Guitar Festival runs Friday to Sunday at Crescent Arts Centre. Saturday’s bill includes Jon Gomm among the headline names — useful if you want a sit-down evening after a day at WellFest or the shops.

Linfield on the road

The Blues are away at Dungannon Swifts on Saturday 12 September, 15:00. No scoreline guessing from this desk — just a reminder the Oval crowd will be travelling.

Looking ahead

Culture Night lands next Friday, 18 September — free city-wide culture after dark. Catch-up on our Culture Night Belfast 2026 piece, and keep the September events guide bookmarked for everything else still to come this month.
