Senior Citizens’ Valentine’s Day Lunch boosted by £500 Asda Donation

Love is in the air at Good Morning Colin!

Good Morning Colin ensured its members stayed ‘young at heart’ this February 14th with a special Valentine’s Day lunch for nearly 100 older people from across Belfast, which was made possible by a £500 donation from the Asda Foundation.

Led by Asda Westwood’s Community Champion, Noeleen McMahon, each guest received a chocolate rose on arrival, and enjoyed a three course meal.

Noeleen McMahon, Asda Westwood Community Champion said,

“I’ve worked with Good Morning Colin for several years, and it was great to spread some love today.  Valentine’s Day should be enjoyed by all, and it was fantastic to bring together everyone to make sure we didn’t have any ‘lonely hearts!’”

Isobel Flood, Coordinator, from Good Morning Colin, added,

“We were delighted to receive the extra support from the Asda Foundation and Noeleen, as well as funding from Ascert and the ongoing support from the South Eastern Trust, for the Valentine’s Day lunch.  We know it means so much to everyone who was here today, who may have otherwise spent Valentine’s Day alone.”

Good Morning Colin, founded in 2002, is a free community based support service for older and vulnerable people based in the Colin area of West Belfast. It provides reassurance through daily telephone calls and support as well as integrating people into their communities and with local services.

Set up in 1988, the Asda Foundation aims to have a positive impact on local communities, by providing support to a range of local good causes, chosen by Asda Community Champions across the UK.
