Autumnal elegance rules at JNwine.com Ladies Day

Fashion and racing elite flocked to day-two of the Down Royal Festival of Racing as the Lisburn-based course celebrated 20 years of award-winning racing, hospitality and investment. Leading the fashion pack at the racing calendar’s highlight event was Vogue Williams who was on hand to help judge Best Dressed.

As Northern Ireland’s number one draw for ladies with winning style, JNwine.com Ladies Day did not disappoint with Nicole Caldwell, 20, from Banbridge catching the judges eye in a beautiful autumnal outfit.

Nicole, a special needs classroom assistant and part time life guard and certainly looked like a winner and the fabulous prize from Down Royal will see her jet off with a fully paid-up, luxury trip for two to Dubai– including a once-in-a-lifetime visit with hospitality to the world-famous Meydan racecourse.

Style and sophistication were starting orders for the day and with a record number of entries for the Best Dressed competition, JNwine.com Ladies Day saw fashionistas out in full force donning their finest gear. The difficult task of picking this year’s winner was in the extremely capable hands of Ireland’s best-known fashion guru Bairbre Power and model Vogue Williams who also awarded five finalists a meal for two courtesy of Mourne Seafood, Belfast.

Speaking at Down Royal after judging the Best Dressed competition, Vogue Williams, model, DJ and wife of former West Life star Brian McFadden, said:

“This is my first visit to Down Royal Racecourse and it has exceeded all expectations. I love fashion so it was a privilege to be asked to judge Best Dressed and spend the day with some of Northern Ireland’s most stylish ladies. It’s great to see the ladies here embrace fashion with their own sense of style and occasion with lots of weather appropriate sartorial choices. Picking a winner was a challenge but Nicole clinched it for me.”

Organisers were delighted to see turnstiles swinging non-stop and the excitement was tangible on the track as the famous JNWine.com Champion Chase – the first Grade 1 event of the Irish and UK National Hunt season – saw Roi du Mee showcase exactly why Down Royal Festival of Racing is the biggest and best yet.
