The Women’s Challenge Cup final between Cliftonville Ladies and Glentoran Women has been postponed, with the Belfast showdown now scheduled for Tuesday 27 October at 7.45pm.
The match had been due to take place on Saturday evening at the Clearer Twist National Stadium at Windsor Park. However, strong winds forecast during Storm Boelo have forced organisers to rearrange the fixture. All tickets already purchased remain valid for the new date.
An amber weather warning covering parts of Northern Ireland on Saturday night prompted the decision, with gusts of up to 75mph expected. A wider yellow warning is also due to run across Northern Ireland from 10am BST on Saturday until noon GMT on Sunday.
The Irish FA said safety was the priority, taking account of everyone attending, playing in or working at the final. It thanked both clubs and their supporters for their understanding and apologised for the disruption.
Cliftonville enter the final as Premiership champions and will be chasing a third successive Challenge Cup triumph. Glentoran, meanwhile, have the opportunity to finish a disappointing league campaign with silverware.
The two Belfast sides now face a short wait before settling the season’s final piece of silverware under the Windsor Park floodlights.
The final is set to be broadcast live on BBC iPlayer, the BBC Sport app and website.
