St Gerard’s Resource Centre on Black’s Road in Belfast has been chosen to design the corporate Christmas card for Fold Housing Association for 2015.
Fold selects one school every year to take part in a competition, with the best design used on a card which will be sent to all contacts and stakeholders.
Over 80 children from the school have entered the competition and the winner will be revealed in December.
Working with the school is only one part of Fold’s involvement in the local community. This year the organisation has presented St Michael’s Nursery School on Stewartstown Road with a donation towards their new outdoor wet-gear which will enable the pre-school children to enjoy an outdoor space all year.
A donation was made to St Pauls Boxing Club member Brendan Irvine who represented Ireland at the inaugural European Games in Azerbaijan in June 2015. Brendan went on to win a silver medal in this competition and continues to train to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Fold Housing Association also sponsored clothing for the Friends of Black’s Road environmental improvement volunteers who are working within the area to revive open spaces and recreation facilities.
Anita Conway, Director of Development at Fold Housing Association, said: “We are excited to work with the pupils of St Gerard’s on this project to develop a festive and fun card to send to all of our stakeholders. We are looking forward to see what designs the children have come up with. We will be choosing a first, second and third place, with all receiving a gift voucher of their choice and a framed copy of their artwork. All 80 children who have entered will be given a small token of our appreciation for their involvement as well.”
Siobhán McIntaggart, Principal of St Gerard’s School Belfast, said: “We are delighted to have been involved with Fold Housing Association in this art competition. The pupils really enjoyed doing it and gained a lot from the experience. We hope to have an ongoing partnership with Fold which will be of mutual benefit to all involved”
