Slieve Donard Resort & Spa unveils breathtaking new 5-metre artwork by renowned Irish sculptor Paddy Campbell.
‘Wind and Sea’, a stunning bronze sculpture featuring two back to back dancing figures almost five metres high, was sculpted and casted in Florence and has now been installed at the Slieve Donard Resort & Spa in Newcastle.
The powerful bronze sculpture commands attention with exquisitely finished male and female figures absorbed in a delicate dance representing a delightful harmony between the wind and sea.
Howard Hastings, Managing Director of Hastings Hotels said: “We are thrilled to be able to bring this beautiful sculpture to the Slieve Donard Resort & Spa for all our guests and visitors to enjoy. ‘Wind and Sea’ was recently unveiled in the Palazzo Medici Ricardi museum in Florence so we are delighted to now be able to bring this stunning sculpture to Northern Ireland.
“We have had the privilege of working with Paddy Campbell for a number of years now and are honoured to be able to display some of his exquisite artwork throughout some of our hotels. It is apt that we have placed the stunning sculpture at the front of the hotel overlooking the sea and the Mourne Mountains and have no doubt that it will provide many enjoyable experiences for everyone who views it.
Sculptor Paddy Campbell added: “Sculpting is a deeply spiritual process and for me it is a constant and ongoing journey. I am delighted that this very substantial work is being exhibited so prominently and in such a prestigious location as the Slieve Donard Resort & Spa within the beautiful landscapes and seascapes of County Down. On the finest and sunniest of days, I hope it will bring much contentment to everyone who sees it, matched by an appreciation of nature when the wind and seas combined are at their mightiest together.”
