Hollywood’s wettest title number is heading for Great Victoria Street. The stage musical of Singin’ in the Rain plays Belfast’s Grand Opera House from Tuesday 16 to Saturday 20 February 2027 — five nights of talkies, tap and more than 14,000 litres of water on stage for the song everyone already knows by heart.
Strictly fans get a Belfast-specific casting note: Karen Hauer plays Lina Lamont for this stop (she shares the tour role with Natalie Anderson elsewhere). Alongside her, Grant Almirall is Don Lockwood, Nicole-Lily Baisden is Kathy Selden, Matthew Maddison is Cosmo Brown, and Coronation Street’s Wendi Peters is Dora Bailey (with Peters listed through to 3 July 2027 on the wider tour). It is the same MGM-born story — silent-screen royalty, a microphone problem, and a chorus girl who can actually sing — dressed for a full West End–calibre company on the GOH boards.
If your Belfast theatre diary already includes nights at the Opera House — from The Addams Family to Judy on Great Victoria Street — this February booking slots neatly into that habit. And if you are still mapping a rainy-weekender in the city, our Things to Do in Belfast guide is the broader pick-list; this one is the splashy midweek musical.

Cast and creative team
Hauer’s Lina is the Strictly crossover for Belfast audiences who already follow the ballroom — LoveBelfast’s Strictly 2026 cast and hosts guide is useful context for how that TV world keeps spilling onto regional stages. Almirall, Baisden and Maddison carry the film’s golden trio; Peters anchors the gossip-column energy as Dora Bailey.
Jonathan Church directs. Andrew Wright choreographs, with additional choreography by Jayne Elster. Simon Higlett designs set and costume; Tim Mitchell lights; Gareth Owen designs sound; Ian Galloway handles video; Robert Scott is musical supervisor; Larry Blank provides the orchestrations. The book draws on Betty Comden and Adolph Green’s screenplay; Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed wrote the songs; the stage arrangement is via Music Theatre International (MTI).
Songs, water and the road to Belfast
Expect the classics woven through the plot: Good Morning, Make ’Em Laugh and the title number that soaks the stage. The production’s water figure — more than 14,000 litres for that rain sequence — is the bit your companions will ask about in the interval.
Before Belfast, the show settles into a Christmas/winter run at Sheffield’s Crucible (26 November 2026–16 January 2027). The UK tour then opens at Bromley’s Churchill Theatre (28 January–6 February 2027). After the Opera House week, London gets a longer stretch at Sadler’s Wells (2 June–3 July 2027).
