Review : Clenaghans Restaurant family Sunday lunch

48 Soldierstown Road, Craigavon, BT67

Clenaghans restaurant is brought back to life with modern comfort warming the traditional stone building. A cosy interior is housed by a building dating back to the eighteenth century, fusing old with new. An inviting atmosphere with roaring fires and dinner by candlelight will welcome you and your guests. Chef Danni Barry will create incredible food using quality local ingredients bringing the community back

Since opening a few months back Clenaghans certainly made a name for itself on  culinary scene, with rave reviews being brandished about. We were invited along to sample a family Sunday lunch last weekend. Clenaghans was already on our ever-growing list of places to try for Sunday lunch so the invitation was very timely. Clenaghans is everything you’d like from a country restaurant. Exposed stone walls, candles, country fabrics,  lots of nooks and areas and of course, a lovely roaring fire. It’s perfect. We ordered our drinks and my son settled down with the complimentary children’s activity sheet.

The children’s menu is super easy to navigate –  Ezra ordered  Sourdough pizza, homemade tomato sauce, cheese. All kids main meals come with a choice of chips, potatoes or vegetables. Our Ezra loves his chips and he really enjoyed them!

To start we had salt baked beetroots with goats curd, linseed cracker, leaves and pressed pork terrine, piccalilli, toasted sourdough.

After much deliberation, for mains I chose roast rump of Glenarm shorthorn, Yorkshire pudding, crushed root vegetables with red wine gravy and sugar pit bacon rack, cabbage and mustard, burnt apple sauce, black pudding. Both were absolutely delicious

For Dessert we had  vanilla cheesecake, poached rhubarb and ginger.  Slice of Heaven…this cheesecake is perfection on a plate. And for Ezra they had free local ice cream and face painting . Happy little boy.

The minute we left we were already deciding when we could next go back. I suggested the following next Sunday …my son loved the idea.
