Review: 42nd Street at the Grand Opera House

42nd Street

This is a non-professional production presented by St Agnes’ Choral Society.

“Perfect performances, an overflowing of effervescent glamour and bags of charisma”.

42nd Street, the mother of all showbiz musicals, is the song and dance, American dream fable of Broadway. Featuring the iconic songs ’42nd Street’, ‘We’re In The Money’ and ‘Lullaby of Broadway’.

This is a musical set within a musical. The action takes place backstage where we witness the big-time Broadway director Julian Marsh auditioning girls for his new musical Pretty Lady.

This all singing, all dancing extravaganza and is simply unmissable. From the moment the curtain rises you are treated to a non stop feast of glitz and glamour reminiscent of a bygone age. I was blown away with the dancing. The dancing was of total precision. Loved watching the professionalism of St Agnes’ Choral Society. It’s was an awesome show and the costumes were so beautifully bling.

42nd Street is amazing show from start to finish. The costumes, the choreography, the songs all combine to make this an exceptional show. It is as if you have been transported back to the set of an MGM spectacular. Go get tickets and just sit back and enjoy from your seat in this beautiful theatre…
