In an electrifying first match of their weekend series, the Stena Line Belfast Giants clinched a commanding 5-2 victory against the Fife Flyers at The SSE Arena, Belfast. The Friday night clash in the Elite League saw American sensation Quinn Preston unleash the season’s first hat-trick, a pivotal factor in the team’s success.
Preston’s hat-trick, achieved remarkably within the first 21 minutes, was a display of sheer skill and precision. Complementing his performance, Ara Nazarian contributed two impressive goals, boosting the Giants’ momentum. This victory marks their third consecutive win in the League.
The opening period was a rollercoaster of emotions. Initially, the Giants demonstrated their prowess with several close chances, but it was the Flyers who first broke the deadlock with a shorthanded goal at 7:43. However, Preston quickly responded, equalizing for Belfast. The Flyers briefly regained the lead, only to have Preston tie the game once more at the first intermission.
The second period witnessed Preston completing his hat-trick with a spectacular top-corner finish, giving Belfast their first lead. Despite being shorthanded, the Giants maintained their composure and extended their lead with Nazarian’s clinical finish before the period ended.
The final period was intense, with Nazarian almost extending the Giants’ lead early on. The victory was sealed with Nazarian’s powerplay goal, rounding off the score at 5-2.
The Giants now set their sights on the second game of their double-header against the Flyers on December 23, followed by a series against the Glasgow Clan. Fans can anticipate more thrilling action as the Giants continue their campaign, with tickets available for upcoming games.
