They were joined (l-r) by Dr Emma Cockburn, Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Physiology, University of Middlesex; Dr Carole Lowis, Dairy Council for Northern Ireland Nutritionist; Ruth Wood-Martin, Irish Rugby Football Union Head of Nutrition and Dr Sharon Madigan, Head of Performance Nutrition, Irish Institute of Sport to discuss the latest science and share their practical sports nutrition experiences.
The seminar’s audience of sporting and health professionals heard from the leading performance nutritionists about the importance of nutrition for sport and a healthy, active lifestyle as well as the latest scientific research on the potential role of milk in post exercise recovery.
Dr Carole Lowis said “This year’s seminar brought together athletes and nutritionists who have had first-hand experience of the importance of good nutrition for sports and of the role milk and dairy foods can play in this. The event provided the opportunity for those attending to hear case studies from this year’s Olympics with the view of putting these into practice in their own field.”
