Groomsport Music and Fireworks Festival

‘One Way or Another’ – make your way to Groomsport for this year’s Music and Fireworks event.

Ards and North Down Borough Council’s popular Music and Fireworks event in Groomsport will be back with a bang on Saturday 17 August with plenty of fun, food, music and entertainment for all the family in the beautiful coastal village!

Bootleg Blondie is coming to the Groomsport Music and Fireworks event.

Hundreds of people are expected to flock to the normally tranquil village where they will be treated to a musical extravaganza that includes headline act, Bootleg Blondie, as well as 19th Street Band!

Bootleg Blondie is the official Debbie Harry and Blondie tribute band. Lead vocalist, Debbie Harris, has the looks, the voice and the attitude of the original Blondie bombshell and like her heroine, she is typically outrageous on stage!

She will be supported by ‘19th Street Band’, who will provide a high energy fusion of Americana and country from 6.30pm, before a fantastic fireworks finale at 10pm.

Throughout the day, families can also avail of free and fun activities at Cockle Row Cottages from 2pm – 4pm, (cottages open from 11am – 8pm) or enjoy a funfair and food stalls which will open at 4pm (charges apply).

Mayor of Ards and North Down Borough Council, Alderman Bill Keery, is encouraging visitors to get down to Groomsport. He said:

“The Music and Fireworks event is always hugely popular with families, couples and groups of friends alike enjoying a picnic along with the festivities. I expect this year’s event to be no different!”

Getting to Groomsport Music and Fireworks

Due to the increasing popularity of this event, car parking has become very difficult in and around the village throughout the day. To make the event safe and easy for everyone to attend, a free park and ride facility from Bloomfield Shopping Centre will be in operation this year, in addition to the usual free shuttle bus service from Bangor Bus Station. There will be no parking in Groomsport village (except for accessible spaces).

FREE Park and Ride will operate between Marks and Spencer car park at Bloomfield Shopping Centre and the A2 at the former Groomsport Hotel. The service will start at 4pm and run continuously throughout the day with several buses running simultaneously at the end of the event for return to Bloomfield Shopping Centre.

FREE Shuttle Bus Service direct to Groomsport will operate from Bangor Bus Station to Groomsport Main Street at 5.30pm, 6.30pm, 7.30pm and 8.30pm and Groomsport Main Street to Bangor Bus Station at 10.30pm and 11pm.
