The West End hit and Olivier Award nominated production Room On The Broom will appear in Northern Ireland for the first time at the Lyric, from 22 – 25 March. Adapted from the spellbinding picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, Room On The Broom makes the quintessential family treat for everyone to enjoy.

The award-winning show tells the story of a friendly witch, her cat and three loveable animals who take to the skies and face a dragon in a magical, musical adventure. Travel with them on their broomstick when they pick up some hitch-hikers – a friendly dog, a beautiful green bird and a crazy frog.  With enchanting puppetry, original sing-a-long songs and laughs, Room On The Broom is ideal for families with children aged three and up.

Donaldson and Scheffler are the creators of one of the UK’s best-loved characters, The Gruffalo. Together they have written and illustrated over twenty books. Four of these books have been transformed into enchanting animations and they have been translated into over seventy languages.

It is created by the critically acclaimed theatre company Tall Stories – a creative force whose credits include The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child, Emily Brown and The Thing, The Snail and The Whale, The Snow Dragon and My Brother The Robot.

The Lyric Theatre has also announced that their 2017 Christmas production this year will be Beauty and the Beast.  By pairing a timeless tale with an enchanting score, this fresh, exciting new musical will have audiences of all ages enthralled:

When the intrepid heroine Belle is captured by the cantankerous Beast and held in his decrepit castle in the forbidden forest, she needs to summon all her gumption to get home.  Along the way, she discovers the grumpy old Beast isn’t quite what he makes out to be, and that there’s more to this tale than meets the eye…

Following on the hugely successful Red Riding Hood (2015) and The Gingerbread Mix-Up (2016), the Lyric is delighted to present another exhilarating and surprising twist on a well-known family classic this Christmas.
