Tayto Creates ‘Springtime’ Crisp in Aid of Marie Curie
There is no doubt that Northern Ireland is full of many great, romantic destinations but when Mr Tayto asked his followers on social media where he should take his new partner, Miss Daffy, one suggestion leapt off the screen at him – the Simply Crispy café in Belfast.
Simply Crispy is Northern Ireland’s only crisp butty café and the perfect venue for a date as Mr Tayto has just created a very special limited edition ‘Springtime’ crisp, flavoured with the fresh seasonal tastes of lemon and basil for Miss Daffy, who is Marie Curie’s beautiful representative. ALL Tayto profits from each ‘Springtime’ pack will be donated to Marie Curie, which could raise £25,000 for the charity, equating to 1250 hours of nursing care for patients in Northern Ireland.
Mr Tayto’s good friend, Crispin, explains: “Mr Tayto has fallen head over heels for Miss Daffy – it really has been ‘love at first bite’ for the couple and what better way for Mr Tayto to show his love, than through his tasty crisps. He has even decorated the packaging with daffodils – Miss Daffy’s favourite flower! Making crisps part of his romantic day out with Miss Daffy was important to Mr Tayto so taking her to Simply Crispy was a perfect choice!”
Rose Petal, buddy of Miss Daffy, adds: “When Miss Daffy told me what Mr Tatyo had created for her I couldn’t believe it. There aren’t too many boyfriends out there that would make a tasty crisp just to win the heart of their perfect partner. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, Mr Tatyo is some spud and Miss Daffy is very lucky to have him.”
Owner of Simply Cripsy, Andrew McMenamin, welcomed the couple to the café for their date. He comments: “Having such a high-profile celebrity couple to Simply Crispy was great and we made sure they were seated at our very best and most romantic table.
“Mr Tayto and Miss Daffy were really down-to-earth and they chatted and gazed lovingly at each other throughout their date. Mr Tayto was the perfect gentleman and I could see that Miss Daffy really made his day when she ordered a Belfast Bap filled with the new ‘Springtime’ flavour, which he had created especially for her. They really enjoyed their crisp butties and we hope they call in again.
“The lemon and basil crisps made a great butty with their savoury but moreish flavours. We have all sorts of different crisps available for butties in the ‘wall of crisps’ in our café but the most popular choice by a mile remains Tayto Cheese and Onion. You can’t beat them in a Belfast Bap with lashings of butter!”
Tayto’s lemon and basil flavoured ‘Springtime’ Crisps are available in 100g packs in convenience outlets and supermarkets across Northern Ireland, costing £1. In the last two years Tayto has donated more than £120,000 to Marie Curie. ALL Tayto profits from the sale of each pack will be donated to Marie Curie the special edition ‘Springtime’ crisps could raise a further £25,000 for the charity, which would equate to 1250 hours of nursing care for patients in Northern Ireland.
After placing a Lonely Hearts ad and undertaking a social media campaign to find love, romance has ‘blossomed’ for Mr Tayto and his perfect partner, Miss Daffy as their respective organisations continue to develop their partnership.
