Treat Yourself to a Lidl Tipple this Weekend

Lidl Northern Ireland is inviting budding mixologists to celebrate the Bank Holiday weekend in style with their easy to make cocktail recipes. While you can’t go out to a cocktail bar or a pub, you can enjoy a luxury cocktail for less in the comfort of your own home. Starting from just £2.50 per drink, you can whip up a fruity favourite following these easy recipes – shake up a Strawberry Frosé or stir up some passion with a Passionfruit, Peach & Mint Mojito.

When you can’t rely on the Northern Irish weather, there is no better way to get that summer feeling than with a delicious cocktail!

Whether you are planning a Saturday night date night in or a video call with friends, make sure to head to your local Lidl to pick up your ingredients and have some fun trying your hand at making your own cocktails.

Here are all the ingredients and the methods you will need in preparation to make the two drinks:

Strawberry Frosé (serves 2)

o   Lidl’s Californian Zinfandel Rosé (£4.48 for 750ml bottle)

o    Strawberries

o   Mint leaves to serve

  1. Blend the rose with the strawberries, lemon juice and sugar.
  2. Place into a tray and then into the freezer.
  3. Allow to freeze for at least three hours, or overnight.
  4. Once frozen, blend again, serve in glasses and top with fresh mint leaves.

Peach, Passionfruit & Mint Mojito (serves 2)

o   70ml Liberté White Rum (£10.99 for 700ml bottle)

o   100ml Freeway Soda water

o   2 peaches

o   2 passionfruit

o   1 lime

o   2 tbsp Caster sugar

  2. Dice the remaining half lime and add to the base of the glasses along with 3 small mint leaves per glass. Use a muddler to gently crush these.
  3. Place the ice in a clean tea towel, fold or wrap to enclose the ice and bash. Fill the glasses halfway with the crushed ice.
  4. Add the blender contents to the glasses along with the rum and the flesh of half a passionfruit in each, then stir.
  5. Top each glass with soda and add a little extra crushed ice if needed.
  6. Garnish by slicing the remaining passionfruit halves, peace slices and mint sprigs.
