West End star Anna-Jane Casey will portray one of entertainment’s greatest icons when the acclaimed play Judy – End of the Rainbow makes its Northern Ireland premiere at Belfast’s Grand Opera House.
Judy Garland’s extraordinary life, unforgettable voice and private struggles will take centre stage in Belfast this September as Judy – End of the Rainbow arrives at the Grand Opera House.
Running for four nights only, from Wednesday 23 until Saturday 26 September 2026, the award-winning production takes audiences behind the glamour to reveal the woman beneath the legend.
Beyond the spotlight
Judy Garland became one of the most celebrated performers of the 20th century, captivating audiences through landmark films, spectacular stage appearances and a voice that remains instantly recognisable.
However, her story was also marked by personal challenges, complicated relationships and the pressures of a lifetime spent in the public eye.
End of the Rainbow explores both sides of Garland’s life, moving between the brilliance of her performances and the vulnerability she experienced away from the audience.
Set around her celebrated Talk of the Town concerts in London, the production offers a powerful glimpse into the final chapter of Garland’s career. It combines drama, humour and live music to create a portrait that is moving without losing the wit and charisma that made her such a magnetic performer.
Judy Garland’s greatest songs
The production features a collection of songs closely associated with Garland’s remarkable career.
Audiences can expect to hear classics including:
- Over the Rainbow
- The Man That Got Away
- When You’re Smiling

The music is woven throughout the drama as Garland prepares for her London appearances, giving audiences the thrill of her legendary performances alongside the more intimate story unfolding backstage.
Anna-Jane Casey takes the lead
Acclaimed West End performer Anna-Jane Casey will take on the demanding role of Judy Garland.
Casey has built an impressive stage career through appearances in major productions including West Side Story, Chicago, Cats and Fawlty Towers. Belfast audiences may also remember her acclaimed performance in Follies at the Grand Opera House.
She will be joined by Will O’Connell as Garland’s devoted pianist Anthony, Darragh Shannon as her fiancé Mickey Deans and William Morgan as a radio interviewer.
Together, the cast will explore the relationships surrounding Garland during a particularly turbulent period in her life.
