Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, Mount Stewart has announced that it will once again host the amazing Festival of Light in its world renowned gardens over three weekends in November.

Last year’s event attracted more than 12,000 visitors who were able to experience the National Trust grounds in a totally new light. The event is returning and will once again see the gardens and woods come alive with lights and music.

The light and sound show will be production managed by Belfast based company Wackiki.

Managing Director, Karl Hunt, said:  “We are delighted to have been successful in winning the tender to produce this amazing show. We supported with the event last year and could see so much potential in developing it over the coming years. It really is something quite unique for visitors to come and enjoy, and the location provides the most stunning backdrop.”

Mount Stewart was recently chosen as one of the locations for Universal Pictures upcoming release ’Dracula Untold’, and this has inspired the conservation charity  to develop this year’s Festival of Light to the theme of ‘Music from the Movies’.

Rachel Hart of the National Trust said:  “We are very excited about what this year’s Festival of Light has to offer. Our opening night falls on Hallowe’en and we will be running a special spookily themed light and sound show. We would encourage all our visitors to dress up for this Hallowe’en Special. The remainder of the Festival nights will be set to the theme of ’Music from the Movies’. It will be magical and mesmerising and there will be plenty to see from all viewpoints around the garden.”

The National Trust have also partnered with local company Magnakata, who once again will have their amazing Kata Tents on site where visitors can enjoy refreshments and get warmed up by the log fire.

One visitor who is certainly looking forward to the event is Raymond Bready from Portaferry, who said: “Last year I went to the Festival of Light on all three weekends. Once was simply not enough to enjoy the true beauty of it, I felt you needed to walk around the lake in both directions and stop and take time to really absorb it all.”

The Festival of Light takes place on 31 October (Hallowe’en Special),and  1-2, 7-9, 14-16 November. Booking is essential due to number restrictions and tickets are available from  or call 0844 249 1895.
